Activities >> Mountains

The Czech Republic contains the ideal conditions for walkers or mountain tourists in respect of the variety of its natural scenery. Tourists can make use of the dense network of well marked pathways, which are interconnected to long distance tourist trails.

Walkers can embark upon tours along the ridges of Hruby Jesenik, the Orlicke mountains, Krusne mountains and along the paths leading through Jizerske mountains. The Sumava mountains and the Podyji (Moravia) are attracting tourists with trails along formerly prohibited borderland territory. The Czech-Moravian highlands have a special magic, captured by many poets and artists in their work, with their wooded hills, rocks, stone quarries and lakes.

The central Bohemian hills (Stredohori) are characterised by their peaks that afford wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. The beauty and unique character of the sandstone rocks with their unusual formations are reminiscent of rock towns. You will find them chiefly in the regions of Cesky raj, Labske piskovce and Teplicko-Adrspasske skaly.
