Not to be confused with the cultivated, white insipid mushroom of the supermarket, most Czech wild mushrooms have a taste that is subtle and delightful. During the late summer and autumn the woods are filled with adults and children - baskets in hand, brimming with one of nature's most magical of foods.
The rich spruce woods, the temperate climate, and the unique geological base are all key factors that, when combined with the seasonal humidity, produce masses of different mushrooms. And for generations, it has been a major Czech pastime.
During the season, we will be organising a series of mushrooming expeditions. A unique opportunity for you to explore the beautiful forests, to learn the 'secrets' of location and identification, and how to cook or preserve them.
