Other Towns >> Tabor
The castle was built along the Luznice River on a site of an old settlement at the end of the 14th century. The Hussites annexed the castle in 1420 and founded a fortified town here. A dense network of cross streets, the Bechynska Gate and the Kotnov Castle Tower demonstrate the former military character of the town. The late Gothic Deanery Church on the Tabor Mountain dominates the town. A Gothic town hall, which contains a unique large hall and an entry corridor to the Tabor underground, and the Jordan artificial lake rank among valuable monuments from the Middle Ages period.
The Jordan lake dates from 1492 and is one the oldest in Central Europe. It includes a Renaissance water-tower. A number of Renaissance citizen houses with typical curliness gables are located in the urban area. The pilgrimage Cathedral in Klokoty dates from the Baroque period.
